Accidentals: The conflict in the dream
We often dream of the possibility of leading life as farmers. We describe it as the simple life. We attach to it feelings of happiness, perhaps due to the smiles we witnessed on friendly farmers faces.
Sure, as outsiders, we may perceive farmers as having little to no hygienic self awareness, due to their often muddied clothes. But, did we take a moment to consider how those very people manage to avoid a great many biological travesties, may it be to their crops or their very lives!?
The reality of the matter is: farmers have, and practice specialized knowledge. They know what ingredients to use to keep rodents and pests away for instance. These skills would prove difficult to master for us, city folk!
Some would say people who suffer the most, can smile the best! Is it not their appreciation of the little things which allows them to forget, even if for the tiniest of moments, the greater many obstacles of life!?
At the end of the day, a simple life, is not one devoid of technology. It is not one carried out in relative isolation. It is one of a mental state of appreciation of the scarce, and mastering the details of our daily lives.
