Unearthed: Thoughts: Chapter 1 part 5 The Secret, cabs, malls, and more...
Let's talk about something we are all very conscious of. Some of you will find this boring. It will be interesting to others. Bear in mind, I am
not a literary critic by any capacity. Now, I believe I just gave you a pretty good hint. Did you figure out what I want to talk about? Reread the past few words if you need to. No, you didn't find it!? Ok, let me relieve your mind of this tension already: I'd like to talk about a book. Let me hear applause! Yes, that's
the spirit.
I'd like to talk about the book so called The Secret, written by
Rhonda something. No, I am just kidding. It was authored by Rhonda Byrne, and
made a substantial fuss in public media. I believe I eluded before to destiny often refereed to as coincidence or chance, as well as luck. When I first heard about the book I was
really curious. It had a catching title. Not to mention publicity made sure I
couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of it.
I took my time reading the
guidelines and examples. I noticed the same idea kept repeating many,
many, times, throughout the book. But I didn't feel bored. On the contrary; I felt really excited.
For such capacity to exist was an awe inspiring revelation. As I talked to people about the book, I came across all sorts of religious people accusing the book
of falsehood. On the other end of the spectrum, teenagers were the ones really affected by the techniques described in
the book. What's interesting, if your really think about it: "the secret" was never really a secret. It
always existed! And even if we accept the argument of the religious, claiming people can have no control over the universe, we can accept "the secret" always existed as a way for the universe to manage itself. A formula if you will. Take for example someone meets someone today. They wish to meet them again. Just "coincidence" leads them to
meet them again. But who knows!? Maybe the secret really can be activated by
individuals too! Just maybe, the universe does not have absolute monopoly over it.
Moving on to a different topic... Sometime cab drivers don't make
any sense. Let alone the confusing norm which is: they are mostly men. My observation has been they slow down for a man who wants to cross the street just to make him realize
in the next 12 hours that he was hit by a speeding airplane. I cannot hold it against them, that they did not slow down! Meanwhile, if they see a girl on the way, the speed indicator will hit zero! I am not saying it shouldn't. But have
some courtesy. They are both lives. Girls won't just jump in and ask you for marriage.
Shifting gears again... I had a unique colleague in high-school. To
be honest, this guy had a way of thinking of his own. From time to time, he'd makes up statements aimed to promote some of what he had learned. He'd refer to them as words of wisdom. Believe me when I say he isn't alone. Do ignore the fact teenagers do some weird things frequently, for a minute. My conclusion is
that students, pupils , people, or whatever you'd like to call them, at teenage, especially in high-school, aged between 15 and 18, face the beginning of
adulthood with bravery.
They begin to gather understanding of
their surrounding environments exponentially. These kids begin to realize what is awesome
about the surrounding atmosphere and comprehend a great amount of information
in what obviously is the beginning of establishing personal experience. As
if they had just opened their eyes onto the world around them. Eventually, they do realize it themselves, leading them to develop a sense of greatness. The huge pile of accumulated information soaked into
these children, is offset by looking up to one's self. In practice, they try to formulate the information saved in their minds into some made up sayings, often understood
only by the those who created them in the first place. Ultimately, the appearance of hubris is a way to recall past
experiences.
Now, the following is really important, so follow closely. No! Not that close! Leave some space for
your eyes to breathe. Just like that. OK, have you ever entered a mall with
no intention of doing something in it?! No!? Every once in a while I wander into a mall, find a set, and enjoy in my sloth observing people scurry along with their lives. Minutes pass, much crosses my mind. I see couples everywhere, hiding among families and security guards. Each had their own agenda. They carried it out peacefully, not bothered by the huge spaces between themselves and others.
Every person walked in an intended direction, aiming for something, while
having fun with those close to their hearts. There were also those who walked
alone with solitude overwhelming their faces and sadness hindering their steps,
not accompanied by friends nor families. Hoping they did. Others, like myself, had no real goals nor aims. They steadily looked for something to do. As I pondered, it re-occurred to me that life goes in circles, as I kept seeing the same people
pass in front of me once, twice, thrice... I also realized we each need a goal and company.
Speaking of companions, let's speak of companies. What's the story with credit cards anyways?! A lot of banks demand the stream of payments to payoff a loan are kept steady. There is a creepy mistrust between the contractors here, don't you think!? The good thing is walking into a loan most people estimate a couple years to fulfillment. Though it can get a little tricky. There is a little extra money which bankers expect you to warm their pockets with. They ignore to some, this is usury. But who cares about religion, let's
talk money! The following is especially aimed to bankers: I don't know how to
play with money! I don't know anything about money at all. My current mind is inclined to believe monthly fees/collectible interest are the only way a bank can function reliably. Though I suspect there is another way.
Why you ask? Because a few months ago I came across an article in a newspaper, which I lack a reference to, about interest free banks. The article claimed Islamic banks are receiving more non-Muslims clients because of the worry free loaning system void of interest.
Parting words: In the past few pages I presented you, dear reader, with but a few scenarios in which our sense of pride or grandeur, prevent us from seeing reality as is. Please remember, when you lie, you do not lie to others, you lie to yourself. Even if we try to convince ourselves of alternate realities, which often is a good thing, or might seem good, we need to remind ourselves that cheating and lying
will improve our lives. No it won't! Do not lie to yourself.
