Trending: Notre Dame

Not too long ago the entire world shook with the news of a razed Notre Dame. If you haven't visited the Cathedral, April 15th, 2019 may have left you feeling like you have an impossible to accomplish bucket list. While we don't know the cause of the fire, don't give up just yet. We only lost part of this monument. Meeting a superstar is not undermined by a condition they develop after their fame. You can ask those who met Muhammad Ali.
In the midst of grieving, an amazing phenomenon took place: pledges started coming in. Individuals and corporations were taking steps to make Notre Dame whole again. Their gestures, I thought, were inspiring. Well, until, another tragedy took place: many deemed these pledges unwelcome.
Sure, these donations can be labeled as acts of vanity. Nevertheless, they are donations. I dare not point the finger at people and assume what is in their hearts.
That said, there are as many charitable causes as there are people. Be it clean water, clean ocean, protecting wildlife, fighting an illness, helping locally giving kids a new experience, etc. Helping the poor is not the only way to reach enlightenment. Maybe, just maybe, those people are making the world a better place through other outlets. Also, isn't giving to a cathedral equivalent to giving to God?
More recently, France called out to us again to notice another troublesome phenomenon: usage of lead. Yes, that toxic element which we all dread. The fire released lead into the surrounding areas, leaving the French with more package than I can handle.
The efforts to restore Notre Dame Cathedral have started. Many architects pitched in their ideas. One was even featured in CNN. France, if you are reading, there will be, even if it doesn't look like it, a better tomorrow.
